A New Beginning, A New BRAVE Conversation

It’s been a while, and so much has happened since we last connected! I’m writing this with a heart full of gratitude and excitement. As some of you may know, I recently became a Mom, welcoming my beautiful daughter (Montana Rose 🌹) into the world. This new chapter has been filled with joy, sleepless nights, and, yes, more coffee ☕️ than ever! But it’s also brought a deeper sense of purpose to everything I do, especially in helping leaders like you navigate difficult conversations and build stronger, more resilient teams and communities. Now, more than ever, I want a better, braver world for my daughter.

With that, I’m thrilled to reintroduce BRAVE® —our space for catalyzing growth and building the leaders of the future. Leaders who can build teams that WIN, one conversation at a time, no matter how much chaos or change is happening around them. People that have gone through BRAVE programs say that The BRAVE Framework® truly aligns their intentions with tangible impact - and I couldn’t be happier to hear it!

Whether you attended one of my workshops, immersions or have shown interest in the past, welcome to this inaugural newsletter! I want to take a moment to reconnect, offer something of value, and invite you to join me on this new journey of growth. 📈

BRAVE Tip of the Day: The Power of Pausing

In a recent Implementation Lab (what we call group coaching sessions), someone said that The BRAVE Framework® has helped him take a pause between thought and action… what a huge win! (Thank you for sharing, Mike!)

One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and others in conversation is the power of pausing. A moment of silence isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength and intention. Before responding in a conversation, especially a challenging one, pause. Take a deep breath, ground yourself, and consider not just what you want to say, but how it will be received.

This simple act does three things:

1. It creates space for clarity: Instead of reacting impulsively, you’re responding with intention.

2. It shows respect: You’re signaling to the other person that their words are worth considering deeply.

3. It fosters connection: Pausing helps you listen actively, allowing you to connect more meaningfully with others.

The next time you’re in a conversation that feels tense or charged, remember to pause. It may feel small, but its impact is profound.

How BRAVE helps you pause

When learning and practicing the new language of leadership AKA The BRAVE Framework®, the pause is also important. In fact, in my new online course, I teach the reason why the framework is structured as it is. Hint: it’s not just because it conveniently spells out a cool and powerful word. It’s actually designed to help us to… you guessed it… pause!

Let me explain, each step of the framework, the B, R, A and V, slow us down more and more to eventually be able to respond and take an action rooted in (E) empathy over judgment or personalizing someone else’s response to us - which let’s be honest is really, really challenging. We’ve all responded poorly to someone before and later had that moment of, “ugh, I wish I could take that back.”

On the flip side, when we have a clear framework like BRAVE that takes the guesswork and self doubt of “am I doing it right?” out of our interactions, it gives us both clarity and confidence. I can say from both personal experience and testimony from leaders we work with, when we see our conversations result in positive impact, stronger bonds and deeper trust, it is SO very rewarding.

I’m excited to reconnect with you through these weekly newsletters...

I’ll be sharing BRAVE tips, insights, and stories that help us all continue growing as leaders—whether in our organizations, families, or communities.

I’d love to hear from you—how have you been? What’s new? And how can I support you in your BRAVE journey? Hit reply and let’s keep the conversation going.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I can’t wait to continue growing alongside you. And cheer as you BRAVE yourself for impact.
